Haven’t had in almost a year. Gorgeousness. This is so elegant, nimble and pure. Awesome nose of roses, rose petal, tar and tobacco. Also superb minerality. Just so wispy. Palate is stunningly beautiful. Elegant, wispy and pure with string red fruit/cherry character. Sneaky length and just so so well made. Super balance and gorgeous. Tight as a drum last year. Wide open now. Nose needs a bit more of air. On the 9.3/9.4 cusp only because nose is a bit shy. I’ll be back.

A pretty, mid to light weight Nebbiolo from Alto Piedmonte. Rose petals, ripe strawberry and a touch of pepper make for an attractive and easy drinking wine.

This is a super brilliant wine but demands 2-3 years of age. It’s so focused and tight now. Nose is somewhat reticent now even after 30 minutes. Gorgeous mineral, sour cherries, mid season cherries, gorgeous fresh leaves just fallen from the tree in early autumn. As it gets going it gets a super perfume, with moss, other forest scents as well. A superb nose that gives off a super sense of place. Remarkable in its detail and vividness. Palate has insane fruit saturation and concentration but also remarkable detail but it is going a f. Big, but ripe tannins and such density . Talk about palate staining. Insane acidity, freshness but man what length. It just clings onto your palate with such unreal intensity and never lets go. I’ll be back in a few hours as this will improve. 9.4 for now. After 2 hours this crosses the crucial 9.4/9.5 barrier as the fruit is just unconscious but framed but absolutely sick minerality and tannins have velvetized. Awesome.

Terrific wine. So fragrant. Cedar, spices, fragrant warm gravel, dark cherry. Dry, intense, and soft. Full, with intense, stony cherry flavors and great acidity. Will improve for at least 4-5 more years, but just fine right now.

Fragrant black cherry / med+ acid directly on palate / rich red cherry, cherry candy, light sage, lilac, violet, lingering finish

Mad love for this producer. A Gattinara that really redefines what Gattinara can be. All about elegance and balance. So pretty. And this is an “inferior” vintage. Nose has some pretty forest. Palate is just so Burgundian. So pretty. So juicy. Just perfect early season cherry fruit. Just palate soaking juiciness. So fresh it’s hard to believe. Cherry spice. Such amazingly integrated spice. Finish is amazing. Almost savory. Almost pernand vergalessy Bought from Fass Selections. ... drinking this with French lentils and sausage which is culinary miscegenation but it works well. ... nose is evolving into this yummy dusty (in a good way) cherry melange. Palate is getting more mature. More cherry liquor. More serious and dense. But in a tight concentrated linear way not a blowsy fat way Finish has that gorgeous defined Nebbiolo fruit that you pay big money for. Longer and longer and really persistent. Literally blasts out and hits parts of your palate you didn’t know existed. This is getting Better and better. Try and hold a bottle for at least 5 years. This has star potential.

My kind of Nebbiolo. Not as opulent and in your face as our other producer, Il Chiosso. Gorgeous nose. Chestnut, flowers, tar, roses, very very aromatic. Juicy with lovely high toned acids and long lasting fruit. Good bold tannin that fleshes out with air. Lovely purity and freshness.

Lovely, briskly acidic, nice nose of rose hips and maraschino. Exactly what Alto Piemonte should be - sneaky depth but lighter and less roasted than its Barolo cousins. @Lyle Fass

Nice alto piemonte Nebbiolo. Decanted 2 hours and still a bit tight - the tannins are no joke. Nice mouthfeel and good red fruit. Was hoping this would be higher at 8 years of age but still enjoyed.
