2006. So tightly wound upon opening. Aerated and let sit for 1+ hour. Earthy, black cherry, leathery, a little smoke, bright, Sticky tannins, a little funk on finish. Wish I had another bottle that I could let sit longer but so yummy we finished it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fig, butterscotch, banana, cognac & alcohol dominate the nose. This wine is a monster. So intense and vibrant. Like it could not wait to be freed from the bottle. Nice tannins and acid. Flavors of biscuit, rhubarb & ripened light fruit. This wine makes you happy to love wine. Very fortunate to come across this bottle. 2006 vintage

Calabretta Nerello Mascalese Vigne Vecchie comes from Mount Etna. Average age of the vineyards is between 60-80 years with some plants over 100 years old, some ungrafted--on original root stock. This vintage is a traditional blend of nerello mascalese and nerello cappuccio. The winery practices organic farming in black volcanic, stony soil at a high elevation
