A blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Merlot and Cabernet Franc, deep Ruby with aromas of red fruits, floral, herbs and smoky oak. On the palate flavors of ripe blackberry, cherry and plum flavors with dried herb notes, cacao, tobacco and toasty notes. Fine ripe sweet tannins, long finish ending with fruit and an earthy smoky herb mineral spice character. Nice!

Blinded, I thought it was a right-bank Bordeaux with some age (10 years was my hunch) - not a bad guess. Definitely not a profile I’m particularly fond of, but credit where credit’s due, this was showing very well.
Intensely aromatic with notes of vanilla, spices, tobacco, smoke, coffee, plums, and even a touch of violets. On the palate, it was rich, soft, velvety, creamy, and spicy, with just the right amount of brightness to keep it fresh. Felt really balanced at the moment, so perhaps its at its first peak, but I’d be inclined to give it a bit more cellar time to tame the overt oak character.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Nice nose of red currants, cherries, blueberries, vanilla, licorice, oak, cloves, spices, dark chocolates, wet leaves, earth, leather, light vinaigrette and peppercorn.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with dark cherries, sweet raspberries, tobacco leaf, spices, wood, vanilla, vegetables, vinaigrette, bitter herbs, forest floor, river rocks, leather, pencil lead, peppercorn and earth.

Long tangy finish with grippy tannins and tart cherries.

This is a nice surprise. This 9 year old Tuscan is still young and austere. Needs 5 years to mature properly.

Needs 2 hours to open up properly and show the big tannins.

Still unbalanced, but already enjoyable and better with food. I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.

Wine Enthusiasts 92 points.

A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and Alicante.

14.5% alcohol by volume.
