Buccella
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

First time trying this after being enthralled with the second wine; Mica.
Although 2020 was a gnarly vintage in Napa, I rolled the dice with this…
Nose displays scorched earth, sandalwood and rich dark fruit. Palate is plush, dense and textured. Plum compote and grainy tannins provide the classic Napa signature. Nice acidity brings up the rear. Relative to Mica, based on this showing, I wouldn’t spend 2.5 x for this over Mica. I know it’s a poor comparison due to the vintage, but I didn’t see any noticeable improvement worth going broke for. Excellent experience but no. Mo rated this 92 and he’s clearly on another planet right now 🤔

Happy Birthday James.
Lush, rich, ripe, velvety tannins and nicely balanced.

A great follow up to the 05 Joanin Becot which was amazing. Bordeaux and then Napa with AB Cover Ribs. The right order. Overall the 2010 Napa vintage is so much better than critics gave it young. An amazing night of friends, environment, music, food and wine. The wines were are outstanding. @ChateauIsbel

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a heady, showy wine endowed with port-like richness. Blackberry jam, espresso, licorice, cloves and new French oak saturate the palate. Buccella is one of the most opulent wines in Napa Valley. As always, it packs a serious punch. There is zero subtlety though, and not much in the way of refinement. Blackberry jam, chocolate, new leather, licorice, dark chocolate and espresso all infuse Buccella's 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon with notable complexity to play off the super-ripe, plush fruit. Readers should expect a full-throttle, extroverted style. Even with all of its opulence, the 2016 is very nicely balanced. It is another compelling wine in a streak of strong recent releases from Buccella. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2020)

I love this massive unctuous Cabernet - powerful but balanced.

PNP- can’t miss crowd pleasers. Drink them up. Not going to get any better. Cheers.

After 30 minutes got pretty decent. For a very good vintage and I really like Buccella but this was mostly disappointing.
