Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay
The 2022 Chardonnay (Sta. Rita Hills) is a fabulous introduction to the range. Served last in this series of Chardonnays, the appellation Chardonnay is perhaps a bit more floral and lighter in body, but other than that, it is in no way inferior to the vineyard designates. This is beautifully done. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2024)

Leaner with good color. Lemon, thyme, chicken fat, hint of chalk.

Aug 24th, 2021A blend of several viineyards, aromas of fruit and toasty creamy oak spice. On the palate pear, apple and hints of peach with citrus notes and nice round oaky honey tones. Medium+ finish ending with a creamy mineral edge. Nice!

Apr 3rd, 2019The 2015 Santa Rita Hills Chardonnay is a beautifully made and ageworthy wine sourced from the Machado, 3D and Acin Vineyards. This has a highly perfumed nose with wild mushroom, Golden Delicious apple and ripe pear. Dense and delicious, this wine has flavors of banana, roasted pineapple and suggestions of white tea with gooseberry accents. The weight and texture of this Chardonnay is absolutely gorgeous as this is a stunning effort by the talented hands of Greg Brewer. Drink 2019-2027- 93

Jul 27th, 2017As fresh as a spring daisy on the nose and palate. This hasn’t moved since it was bottled. I’m very impressed.
The nose presents lanolin and lemon oil and fresh-cut flowers. Palate is laser-focused with limes, grapefruit and gravel. Acid structure is pristine, yet powerful. I’m more familiar with BC’s pinots. This isn’t how I recollect the chard to be - wow! I think this is their entry-level offering, too. A very pleasant surprise… age is its friend.

The 2020 Chardonnay (Sta. Rita Hills) is a terrific appellation-level wine. Hints of pear, mint, lemon peel and white flowers all grace this expressive, sculpted Chardonnay from Brewer-Clifton. My only quibble is a slightly aggressive edginess that hopefully will soften over time. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2022)
