Nice value for the easy drinking 15% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon & 70% Sangiovese blend, two-thirds of wine aged 12 months in French oak. Deep Ruby with fresh red berry aromas and some herb spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry, plum, cacao and licorice. Fine tannins, medium+ finish, good balance with acidity, ending with tobacco and oak on the finish.

Last night we opened the 2020 Brancaia Tre Rosso Toscana. From Radda in Chianti, Italy a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.

On the nose this wine upon opening is heavily reductive with notes of matchsticks and sulfur. I had to let set for over an hour and these reductive notes blew off revealing nice notes of cherry, strawberry, raspberry, eucalyptus, vanilla, dried roses and dried earth.

On the palate there is tart cherry, strawberry, tart red plum, licorice, thyme, tomato, herbs, balsamic and minerality.

This is a medium to full bodied wine with medium + to high acidity and medium + fine tannins that has a long red fruit balsamic finish. I hope everyone's weekend was fun with good wine and for the week ahead please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Not what it once was… but still… for the price it’s good. Really good. Initially, not so complex but as it opens up so does the depth.

Nice value for the easy drinking Merlot, Cab & Sangiovese blend, two-thirds of wine aged 12 months in French oak. Deep Ruby with fresh red berry aromas and some herb spice. House wine alert! Delicious, tremendous bargain. Manages to blend 20% Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in without losing its "Tuscan-ness".

This wine is a hug from someone in a leather jacket: soft and comforting but with just a whiff of that funky smell and structure. The berries are bright and ever so slightly cooked, like a nice berry coulis. Then there is earth and some dried branches and silky tannins. On first sip I wasn’t into this but given a minute to open up it has something to say without being a loudmouth. Totally friendly supertuscan. Pairs well with a book.

A stylish Super Tuscan that is as modern as its label, Brancaia's 2014 Tre is a blend of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from all three of the winery's estate vineyards. It's softly textured on the nose and palate, a basket of freshly harvested, sun-warmed Italian plums and black cherries infused with thyme blossoms. The palate is plush and generous, with ripe tannins and a core of black fruit enlivened by a burst of acidity that leads into cedar and bay leaf. 13.5% ABV Sample | 89 Points

Medium to deep garnet red with bricking on the edges. Notes of dried cherries, light mushrooms and a touch dusty. Very dry with quite a bit of cherries on the palate with a little earthiness and metallic notes in the medium plus finish. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus acidity. Medium bodied. Would be interested in the higher level bottlings. Drink now.
