The 2019 Beaune Blanc du Chateau 1er Cru offers candied orange peel, vanilla pod and light almond scents on the nose, a slight melioration compared to its showing in barrel. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, a slightly waxy texture, bitter lemon, orange pith and peach skin, leading to a cohesive finish. After a stuttering start, this has found its groove. Tasted at the Bouchard Père tasting in London. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2023)

Founded in 1731, Maison Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest wine merchant houses. Pale lemon with pronounced aromas of stone fruits with floral notes, very complex. On the palate apple and citrus flavors with honey, oak and spice, lively acidity, well balanced, long finish ending with fruit and mineral tones. Nice! Drinking well now!

Founded in 1731, Maison Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest wine merchant houses. Had this sitting in my cellar, aging did great. Aromas of crisp stone fruits with floral notes, complex. On the palate apple and citrus flavors, still lively with honey oak and spice. Well balanced, lingering finish ending with mineral tones. Nice!

Took 2 days to open up - austere and focused. Would have been best to ponder this bottle without food. Patience will be needed
