Dark fruit, anise, and a bit of smoke with soft tannins and healthy acidity. Good stuff! 13% alc, around $20.

Blackberry, cherry, raspberry, currant, white pepper, mossy earth and oak. Good structure and moderate tannins.

2008. Nose & flavor of rust, raspberries, red & dark cherries, earth & a spicy-herbal je ne sais quoi. Elegant.

2008 vintage.
Tight nose at the start.
After an hour opens up with dried violet and rose petals, freshly cracked black pepper, charcuterie meats, smoke, black olive tapenade, blackberry, blue plum, black cherry.
Poised palate, tamed tannins with still fresh acidity.
Great drinker!

Grahm calls this a "feminine" Syrah. I've been taken to task for that description before, but I don't agree anyway. I guess it could be a feminine form of a masculine wine, or a masculine form of a feminine wine. I'll let it go by saying it is dark, a bit more fruity than I expect from B. Doon and completely enjoyable. Tannins are nice, but don't get in the way of a good sipping experience.
