Screw top, drop top...I've drank the 2011 a half-dozen time at this point and each bottle has been more or less consistent. The wine presents a very pretty garnet in the glass; not quite transparent. It's brambles, asphalt, flowers and an obvious touch of funk on the nose. On the palate it's not quite as complex, mostly bright brambles and plums. Body is definitely on the leaner side and finishes a little hot but it's not distracting. This is a rather good take on CdP with a lot of the characteristics one would expect and would be a really fun bottle to throw into a blind tasting. That being said, it's definitely on the more Burgundian side of the spectrum and will never be mistaken for the great producers of CdP and...if we're being honest here...one can spend $10-$15 more and drink a really good CdP soooooo, maybe not the greatest value when you think of it that way. Currently, this wine performs best with 30 minutes of air and drinks well for about 2 hours before decline. Drink now.

OMG. This wine is sick!! Sir @bonnydoonvineyard, u've done it again. How you consistently make some the best new world Rhône blends...only Buddha will ever know!
These fresh, vibrant, lip smacking, cherry poppin, raspberry/rhubarb notes on the nose just can't be beat. All that succumb to a mouth full of happiness (blk cherry compote, fennel, dried thyme & licorice-y love).

Blackberry, cassis, licorice, mossy earth, tobacco leaf, plum, oak and hints of eucalyptus & sage. Good structure and well-integrated tannins.

A little green with more acid than I'm used to in this offering. Still good, ALWAYS get the cigar when you can tho. 🍷😏

2011. Sometimes you need to take a chance on a bottle of wine you find in remote Alaska that’s probably been sitting in the local store for almost a decade… this was delicious and all around the table enjoyed it very much!

Just wining (maybe with a little whining!) at home with this local Santa Cruz beauty! 2011 Le Cigare Volant produced & bottled by Bonny Doon Vineyard. Consisting of 37% Mourvèdre, 34% Grenache, 20% Syrah & 9% Cinsault, it’s a juicy & fresh new world red Rhône blend with velvety smooth tannins. Stay healthy & safe. Cheers🍷
