Bollinger RD is and has been my favorite. So much depth of flavor and body. Beautifully integrated wood. Aromas of dried lemon peel, hazelnuts and lacquered wood. Rich and decadent

Bollinger’s 2008 R.D. is a powerful, vinous Champagne. Apricot, dried pear, tangerine oil, hazelnut, dried flowers, chamomile and brioche all race across the palate. The 2008 boasts notable depth and textural intensity, with a feeling of phenolic, almost tannin-driven grip from the Pinot that propels the finish.(Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2023)

WNH NY, 2021.
The only bubbles on the table tonight, gifted by
@Shay A - thank you, Shay.
For an “extra brut”, I was surprised how sweet this presented. Lovely toasty nose was closely followed by a very energetic mid-palate. I’d like to re-taste this as I thought I detected a hint of boytrytis on the finish, which blurred the clarity of the expression for me. Still very enjoyable, tho…

Truly a superb Champagne. So expressive, ethereal and with layered complexity. Continues to reveal additional layers as it unfurls. Majestic stuff.

Christmas Day Champagne. The disgorgement date very much determines how the wine shows. The date for this wine is 19th December 2006. Tyson Stelzer has scored 96 points for disgorgement date of May 2012 and 100 points for November 2017. My notes for this wine: Mid to deep lemon in colour with a bronze tinge. Lemon citric notes with earthy notes of mushroom and truffle. Powerful on the palate - a kaleidoscope of flavours. A serious Champagne showing a powerful Pinot Noir presence of 70% in true Bollinger style, with 30% Chardonnay. 6 hours later - oxidative notes with a creamy texture retaining that lemon palate. My previous bottle 5 years earlier more impressive.
