Dark cherry, red currant, vanilla and sweet spices. Velvet tannins for a 2012. The finish is long and lingering. This wine is a great example of the grapes coming from the incredible Beckstoffer vineyards. #greatwine #beckstoffer, #boichfamilycellar #wine #sommelier #vino #napa #napacabernet #cabernetsauvignon

Deep ruby red. Lots of dark fruits on the nose like plums and a bit of cinnamon and vanilla. Moderate tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Velvety texture on the palate with dark fruits, dark cocoa, vanilla and caramel. Long finish. Delicious to see how these will develop over a couple years. Drink till 2028.

Deep and dark ruby red with a purplish hue. Toasty attack on the nose with layers of black cherries, cassis, blackberries, a bit of anise and chalky. Heavy tannins (8/10) and full bodied but rather approachable for a 2014. Velvet and lush on the palate, immensely dark too with dark cocoa, slight black peppercorn, dark baking spices and thick. Tons of structure too. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2037.

Classic Rutherford cab from John Boich. His first commercial release is elegant yet concentrated, with rich black fruit, cocoa powder, pencil shavings, and that Rutherford dust. Excellent. This will be one to watch as it gains secondary character with age. Winemaker is Jeff Ames.

Not bad for a warm vintage. Took some time to open up (about 2 hours). When it did cassis, blackberry jam, sage, with some dusty tannins in the finish.

Boich Family Cellars2017 cabernet sauvignon Beckstoffer vineyard Georges III from Napa Valley. This delicious blackberry pie bouquet opens up the initial palate with dark berry fruits fully rip and developed. Im going to decant for 30 min then return...okay... and... here we go... much better. The initial experience is blackberry, boysenberry, dark currant, and a splash of black licorice. Then cones the dark chocolate and lavendar. Very strong notes of Oak and graphite. The finish explodes into a smokey dry lingering finale. Yummmy!!!! The tannins are almost nonexistent yet soft and subtle. It has a very Earthiness about it.

First Beckstoffer to wrap up dry January. Classic Napa cab with crazy long finish that keeps on giving. Great!
