On the palate flavors of ripe blackberry & plum with tobacco, licorice and sweet cedar. Tannins, still tight, support the backbone of the wine, needs more bottle age. Well balance with acidity, full body, lingering finish ends with some fruit, oak, spice, and earthy character. Nice!

Firm round taut tannins, great balance with acidity, full body, long finish ends with fruit, oak, spice, and mineral character. Almost starting to open, definitely needs more time! Will age a decade or more!!

A really nice wine, the Alion 2015 is one of the best Alion’s I drunk in recent years and it surprisingly ready to enjoy at this young age. Complex, rich, elegant , balanced all in one, notes of dark chocolate 🍫, plum, cherries, black current, earth and espresso all come together nicely in a full bodied wine that is rich smooth and have lovely well integrated tannins and a long delicious finish. My score 92, drink to 2026

Similar to the Vega Sicilia process where barrel/bottle aging is 2 years of each, with 70/30 French/American oak. Some of the vineyard sources are at Vega Sicilia, with the rest scattered through the local region. For example 25 hectares are in Padilla, 40 in Pesquera.
The nose and palate show red opulent fruits, licorice, subtle French oak apparent with a spicy seasoning of wood and an underpinning of minerality and freshness from the cooler 2012 vintage.
250-280k bottles typically produced annually.
