I picked this wine up on a whim, not knowing anything about it other than it is a Rioja Temprinillo and I so like my Temprinillo. After looking this up I come to find it was a Decanter Top 50 with a score of 95+. On first opening I get Dark Fruit, Black Plum, Menthol, Licorice, and at first there was some alcohol but letting it sit that blew off after a few minutes, Tar, Anise, and Black Currants. On the first sip there was a strong coffee and toasted nut, toasty oak, dark plums, on the backend and black cherries in the mid palate. Very smooth silky tannins with a good long finish. Very nice for $17 bones. Would recommend to anyone.

Liking this Rioja; usually not my favorite wine; love using semicolons.

Another classic Rioja... Man explosion of flavours which leave the most fantastic taste at the back of the palate.....

One of the best under 20$ bottles I've had. Smokey strawberry vanilla dill high acid loveliness. I will be buying more. The last 08 rioja reserva i had was garbage in comparison.

Toasty nuts and oak, loads of dark fruits, black currants, and an anise bite. The tannins are fine and grippy and the finish is medium long. I picked this up for $18 and I will head back into DC and get more. It is still young and fresh and has years ahead of it

Wonderfully cherried, well-integrated oak, rich, bright, and a long, pleasing finish.

2008. Great mahogany color, no bricking yet. Woody spice and stewed fruit aromas. Nice cherry pop on the mid palette. Tannins assertive but tailing off pleasantly on the finish. Will last decades.
