Bodegas Muga
Rioja Viura Malvasia
Chalky, floral and interesting. Can tell it’s more rare varieties.

Jan 11th, 2024Another fantastic QPR- medium body, light sunflower color w green tints, medium+ acid & so, so clean. Viura. Barrel fermented but nothing goopy or heavy handed here, just a moderate tang & grip with a few nods towards vanilla.

Jan 4th, 2023Oak aged but not clumsily, so clean & sharp. Presents like a Macon with some zip. Muga brings such value.

Jan 4th, 201890% viura, 10% Malvasia and Garnacha Blanc. Dry, crisp, with lemony citrus, unripe yellow peach. Racy acidity with lots of minerality. Slightly flint and petrol. Says fermented in new French barrel and sits on its lees for for 3 month Can't really feel or taste the oak note or the lees note.

Aug 19th, 2017This is a ridiculous value and the 2017 vintage is stunning. Rich, round fruit in the mid palate, intense concentration and tremendous finesse throughout. Finishes with a mineral streak that is delightful. Do yourself a favor and serve this in large Burgundy bowls which greatly enhance the ripe peach, mango and citrus blossom character in this lovely wine.
