Had another bottle! Founded in 1972, Bodegas LAN was named after the initials of the 3 provinces in the Rioja Designation of Origin: Logrono (now La Rioja) Alava and Navarra. Deep Ruby with red berry aromas and some spice. On the palate tart cherry with cinnamon and vanilla oak flavors with subtle herb notes. Fine tannins, good balance, medium finish ending with earthy leather notes. Nice value. Aged well.

Fresh and vibrant. Strawberry and blueberry, orange peel, mint, chocolate, and coconut, with some secondary leather, tobacco, and earth. Tannins are fully resolved, but just present enough to provide an outline of structure.

A little bitey. Some good red fruit, but seems to be coming apart a little. Pre-Norton dinner at O'Neill's house.

On the nose tobacco, leather and red fruit. In the mouth, bright red cherries and iron. Medium-long finish with a slightly bitter edge. Better than most of the reviews seemed to state IMO. A fairly classic rioja with some modern cleanliness.

nose had lots of stewed and dried red and black fruits- plum, black and red cherries, dried raspberries, leather, bloody steak, a little kalamata.
flavors showed plum, red and black cherries, a little beef jerky, dry earth, dried strawberries, little olive. this was very fruity and simple upon first opening- but after sitting overnight the more meaty/savory flavors came out. satisfying upfront- but had zero finish.

Hard to evaluate beyond the overwhelming new French and American oak. Well extracted fruit and tannin management.

Deep dark color and much bigger body than the Crianza. More time aged in oak. Big aromas of leather, rose petals and dark cherries. Organic flavors of mushroom and earth with cherry undertones. Black pepper on the finish. Good $20 bottle.

Dark fruit, low tannins, smoke, pepper with nice acid finish. Very nice for the moderate price.
