This bottle was little past its prime. Slight oxidation obscuring the complexity but the mouthfeel is still caressing and long.

Saline, salt and brine. Maybe some yellow fruit and white flowers, but mostly the sea. For my palate, it could use a little more acid to brighten the whole package, but then again, I tend to be on the far end of that spectrum so YMMV. Sure is tasty along side some crudo, tho.

First time having the 2013. Little disappointed considering what I know the wine is capable of.

Part of the ocean is missing because we just drank it. Oh, and there were some flowers too. White ones at that.

Salinity, almond skin, citrus pith, flowers, and some faint spices. prominent acid that doesn't overwhelm. It's minerality is obvious but hard to define. It's not like wines made of Riesling or Chardonnay or Chenin blanc. It makes me think of the color blue, and of jumping into cool ocean water. We need Carricante in California.

Etna Bianco comparative study. Carricante - the motherlode of Etna whites, and Benanti is benchmark goods. Pietramarina is single-vineyard fruit hailing from Milo (same as Fessina). A great wine that everyone who loves the legendary whites of Burgundy, Mosel and the Wachau should add to their list of hits.
