Better than expected. Beckstoffer grown fruit. Drank at cellar temp. Sweet oak, vanilla, white flowers, pineapple, and apricot on the nose. The palate is lush without being heavy. Honeyed tropical fruits are balanced by nice acidity and minerals. This is Napa all the way, but not over done. Will be nice to see where this goes in a few years.

This is day 2 only had a taste last night: Digging the nose on this- Ever smelled a freshly opened can of mixed fruit salad? The one with the halved cherries? I used to mow that stuff down as a kid. Mouth coating ripe tropical fruits, exotic, rich. Little lemony acidity. Minerals. Lot going on here but doesn't show the nearly 15% abv today. Great length (twss). 2 bottles left, will revisit 6mos to a year.

2013 World's End Rebel Rebel Reserve Chardonnay Napa. Beckstoffer grapes. Tropical fruits, pineapple, crisp and clean. French- style Chardonnay. Really good.

I guess I just really love when a Bordeaux winemaker takes a shot at Chardonnay - they seem to knock it out of the park, and @Jonathan Maltus sure did with this one! Beckstoffer fruit, and 90% of it Chardonnay, with a backing of 10% Riesling. Why would one do this one might ask? I did. I'll tell you why. Because that inclusion of Riesling fills in the gaps of the mid pallet and the aromas of the Chardonnay where it tends to lack. It smelled of orange blossom, dried mangos, wildflower honey, and flint mineral (making me recognize the presence of Riesling) - very vibrant and bright. The pallet was delicately balanced between its bright citrus fruits, acid, and soft cream to the finish - pineapple, golden apple, ginger, Meyer lemon, and a light butter and créme fresh to the finish. I would very much like to have this one around more often. I paired this with baked salmon, lentils and rice with a scotch cream sauce, and the combination of it all was just heaven. Bottle was empty @efore I knew it. 😂

A special thank you to @David L for the bottle! My wife and I absolutely enjoyed it! Very generous of you.

Cheers!

Well made, clean, some pineappley fruit in the nose. The palate is enhanced by a bit of zippy/spritz. It doesn't give much at the moment aromatically. Textual fairly rich as the 14+ alc would lead one to expect. Not my normal drinking style but with trying and likely more restrained than many competitors.

Nice development since I tasted more than 2 years ago. The nose is still very clean and fresh, but with noticeable dried orchid fruits. Crisp acidity. Suggestion of sweetness but dry, showcasing the ripeness of the fruits from the superlative 13’ vintage. Light oak that’s well integrated.
Peak, but no need to rush.
