Batzella
TÂM Bolgheri Superiore Red Blend
Dark but clear red. Wonderfully inviting nose of black cherry and balsam. Medium full body with a nose-marching palate of black cherry and other dark fruits, balsam, patent leather, and anise herb (in that order). Medium acidity. Medium plus, velvety tannins. This is a fully Italian take on the Cabernets (Sauvignon and Franc) that calls out for food (medium to light cuts of beef would be great… Osso bucco?), but would fare just as well by the glass. Drink now through 2028.

The 2015 Tâm emerges from the estate's best vineyards, those located on the southern reaches of the estate. Bright floral notes play off the ripe fruit beautifully in this sumptuous Bolgheri red. Lavender, sage, plum, and blueberry jam add aromatic nuance throughout. The 2015 was aged in equal parts cask and barrel. The larger-format casks seems to add a good bit of freshness. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2018)

Apr 12th, 2018Powerful but light on its feet, this is a very angular and serious wine robed in a deep red core with ruby edges.
60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Cabernet Franc aged for 24 months in French oak barrels.
The nose reveals the Tuscan coast terroir here with scents of wild flower meadows, earth and minerality in the form or crushed rocks, with a cedar note that adds a seasoning to the black raspberry, cherry and currants. The palate reveals some serious complexity, adding some graphite to the melange of fruits and earth. The tannin are ripe and firm with a full body tempered by acidity that flows into a long, clean finish.

Vintage 2008 tasted Mar 2015 - 1st night at parent's villa in Naples, Florida. No decant needed. Smooth, med-to-light bodied. Enjoyed well with flank steak, but would show better with slightly lighter fare.

1 person found it helpfulMar 28th, 2015Decanted for a hour, A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Cabernet Franc and aged for 18 to 24 months in French Oak and a further 12 months before release. The wine is Deep Ruby red with aromas of red/black fruits and sweet spices. The palate shows black cherries, blackberries and cranberries with some cacao, leather and vanilla spice. The wine had soft structured tannins, medium length and ended with earthy notes. Drinkable now but a few years would enhance the experience. Very nice! Tasting Sample.
