Vésanie Côteaux du Lyonnais Gamay

Very good stony gamay from a small producer just outside of Lyon.

Surprisingly effervescent, almost bubbly coffee with beautiful acidity and delicate red fruits, this is unlike any gamay I’ve had. The nose is complex, with bold vegetal notes, like roasted carrots and fennel, with hints of orange and fresh cut grass hidden in the wings. Palate is delicate, with surprisingly light body, and notes of tart red citrus, cranberry, raspberry, clementine, and underripe plum, with notes of strangeness like olive and balsamic vinegar, with a surprisingly mouth drying minerality and slightly tight tannic finish. Who are you Baptiste?

Foresty, full of spruce. Aromatically deep and that's what I appreciate most here. Cherries, black pepper, mint, cedar, tar. Murky and sour but not crunchy. Finished with cherries over salted minerals.
