2017 is drinking really well. Supple and balanced, expands a bit with some air but has silky fruit, balanced tannins and great aromatics.

Because when my wife spends all day making her bolognese, I have to give her something nice to drink. This one was in perfect shape, with gorgeous cherry and orange peel and cedar layered over leather and earth. Great acids suggest this has another 5-10 in it easily.

Yum. Young. Nice tannins. This easily does another 10 without much effort. #2010vintage

This was a wine that I have been holding onto for years and finally deemed my belated birthday dinner to be the perfect or imperfect time to enjoy it. Le ragnaie is for me the very best that Brunello can be especially with this type of age on it: all dried red fruit and dried herbs and leather and all perfectly in balance! Plus Ricardo The man behind the line is just a super nice person! You can read more about it on my blog if that’s the sort of thing you do 🥰

Quality check on Le Raganie Brunello di Montalcino 2013 and what a showstopper, starting off a bit shy but evolves into a layered complexity with plenty of finesse, with four hours in the decanter its hard to raise your nose from the glass. Red, very vibrant fruit is backed up by dried spices and pronounced but balanced savoury complexity of forrest floor and crushed stones. A subtle volatile lift brings further complexity. Fresh palate with, fine grained tannins and a tactile sensation that brings the wine throughout its long finish. Not Brunello, its a trademark Ragnaie!

Racy yet ripe with beautiful tannins adding serious grip to its cherry dominated profile where acidity, Galestro earthiness and dried herbs add complexity to this classically style Brunello. Built like a cross of Barolo from Brunate and Premier Cru Nuits Saint Georges.

Initially very backward but after letting it slow-ox for about two hours this transformed into a fully expressive and wild beauty. Mulberries, cherries, espresso, oregano...oh my. Really digging this. On the palate it’s dark cherries, cocoa, espresso, minerals; finish is long...almost savory. The purity and texture is quite compelling. Built to last.
