Au Bon Climat
Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir
2014 drunk in 2024. I kept a bottle of this $14(!!) wine—2015 price—for 8 years on a hunch that it would hold up, and it did. I don’t know what it costs now, but back then it was head and shoulders the best American supermarket wine.

Nov 6th, 2024Bargain priced for the quality. Medium Ruby with lots of varietal character - dried orange peel, raspberry, strawberry, violet and forest floor. Lovely texture with light, ripe tannins. Medium finish. A fitting tribute to the late Jim Clendenin

Jan 20th, 2022Solid Pinot for a restaurant to pour by the glass. Textbook Santa Barbara nose of crunchy red fruits and cinnamon spice. The finish is so bright with strawberries and red licorice flavor.

Jul 12th, 2021My Sunday night wine I have gone back to a favorite of mine that is not going to break the bank and is consistently good. I have opened the Jim Clendenon 2018 Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County.
On the nose there is raspberry, cranberry, cherry, spice vanilla anise, clove and earthiness.
On the palate I detect good red fruit, raspberry, cherry, cranberry, red currant, anise, clove and earthiness.
The wine is medium bodied with medium + acidity and medium fine tannins that leads into a long fresh red fruit finish. Another well blended wine from Jim Clendenon that i have come to expect. I hope everyone's weekend was a good one and we are all still safe and healthy. Have a great week, Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Pure, clean, bright acidity, and a touch of earthy cola. Every year this is a great buy. Nailed it on salmon night.

Feb 23rd, 2020Super impressed with this wine. This is well priced and well made Pinot. The crunchy acidity and bright red fruit and partial whole cluster (assuming) jumps out of the glass. This is a joy to drink.

Jul 11th, 2019I thought this would be an exceptional Pinot noir but I am disappointed in it. Bright fruit with heavy acidity. Very light which isn’t a bad thing but this wine is lacking. Willing to try other Au Bon Climat wines, but this one isn’t worth it.
