Oh, that California Chardonnay could all aspire towards this kind of apogee. @duncanarnot has captured resinous grapefruit pith and lemon curd sunshine in a bottle. Silky and zingy with gorgeous acidity.

The 2017 Chardonnay Watson Ranch is a gorgeous wine. Apricot, chamomile, dried flowers, sage and dried pear are all laced together in this super-expressive, inviting Chardonnay. Striking! This wine smells like Spring. Nose is candied lemon, ripe tropical fruits, sweet apples, white flowers, wet stones. I expected this to be very tart, like Chablis, but was happily surprised to get a rounder presentation with a kiss of oak. This is drinking very well at this stage.

Very Burgundian in style. I still lean towards the Trout Gulch Chardonnay. Delicious with roast chicken.

My kind of chard — stainless steel when it’s completely dry, then ML in neutral French oak. Love this wine every year! Michaela’s bachelorette!!
