The ‘13 and ‘14 are available now and are completely geeky! The hybrid grape Kamrahyut is more than 90% of the blend. The aromatics are fascinating with rich plum, apricot, rose, and sweet herbs for the nose. The wine has medium-plus acidity and a solid tannic backbone. Dark and savory fruits on the palate. Enjoyable.

2014 vintage. A blend of mainly Kamrahyut (92/), with Areni (5%)", Kakhet (2%) and Meghrabuyr (1%). Apparently Kamrahyut is a hibryd. Aromatic nose reminiscent of the Italian Lacrima di Morro d'alba (Marche). Spicy, rather high acidity, rustic tannin and drying finish.

Armas Estate “Uru Uu” Dry Red (Karmrahyut & Areni) V.2021
Aragatsotn, Armenia 🇦🇲

Overview
A bold red crafted from 80% Karmrahyut (an indigenous tenturier grape) and 20% Areni, two of Armenia’s most historic varietals. Karmrahyut (“red juice”) is known for its deep color and earthy character, while Areni lends finesse and freshness. Together they form a distinctly Armenian expression.

Aromas & Flavors
The nose opens with earthy and leafy tones, followed by hints of baked raisins and dried herbs. On the palate, the flavors echo this rustic profile, leaning into raisined fruit with subtle spice and a savory edge.

Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with firm tannins, showing good grip but also a tendency toward oxidation once opened. Its structure calls for rich food to bring out its best qualities.

Winemaking Notes
Produced from estate-grown indigenous grapes, fermented and bottled with minimal intervention. The rustic style showcases authenticity but also means the wine can oxidize quickly, so best enjoyed soon after opening.

Food Pairing
Pair with fatty foods such as lamb stew, beef kebabs, or grilled pork belly. The wine’s earthy, raisiny notes also work with aged Armenian cheeses.

Verdict
A terroir-driven, rustic red that highlights Armenia’s native grapes. Best enjoyed with hearty food, where the wine’s earthiness and raisined fruit find harmony. Drink young and don’t linger too long after opening.
