Anam Cara
Nicholas Estate Vineyard Riesling
Star bright straw. Inviting nose of ripe pear and honeysuckle. Medium light palate echoes the nose adding dried orange rind and a slight hint of balsam finish (barrel fermented?). That plus the medium plus- acidity -- a bit lower than Germany or the Finger Lakes -- makes an excellent accompaniment to just about any "white wine" fare from Bronzino to fried chicken. Drink now through 2026.

Jul 7th, 2022Mineral, great acid, white peach, apple, quince, and a little petrol to round things out. Dare I say a touch of Pencil shavings and fleshy green plums? Wicked good!

Nov 18th, 2020Words “Anam Cara” are Celtic for “friend of my soul.” Nick and Sheila have made wines since planting grapes in 2001. Pale lemon with aromatic aromas of ripe tropical, stone & citrus fruits. On the palate tart apple and melon flavors, with a crisp citrus tang. Medium+ finish, vivid acidity with rich ending. Drinking well now. Nice value.

Sep 29th, 2019Rubber hose, key lime, white pear, wet slate, ginger spice, lemon zest and petrol - what I expect in good Riesling. Ample juicy acidity, slightly elevated alcohol, good balance. It isn't overly complex, but as good as any Trocken QbA from a high quality producer in Germany. I love these guys, and Sheila is such a nice lady as well. If you haven't had their wines, they are fantastic.

Nov 1st, 2018Fantastic nose wet stone and petrol, peach, golden apple, lemon zest, yellow flowers and honeycomb. Palate is quite dry with bracing acidity. Loses some complexity in the mouth as the high acid delicate citrus takes over. Overall enjoyable and very food friendly. Served with a light teriyaki pork dish with ginger and cumin couscous. Big fan of this producer
