Albino Rocca
Barbaresco Nebbiolo
The 2018 Barbaresco is a terrific introduction to the year. Sweet tobacco, licorice, mint, dried flowers and rose petal all grace this ethereal, classy Barbaresco from the Rocca family. Silky tannins give the 2018 tons of up-front appeal and plenty of charm. This is beautifully done. The straight Barbaresco is mostly Meruzzano plus young vines in Ronchi. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, February 2022)

Tonight's wine I have opened the 2015 Albino Rocca Barbaresco.
On the nose there is strawberry, raspberry, black cherry, roses, vanilla and a good earthy component.
On the mlm palate ther is strawberry, raspberry, tart cherry, star anise, spice, mint and good earth.
The wine is medium bodied with a silky mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium fine grippy tannins that lead right into a long fruit filled finish. For this weekend let's all enjoy a nice wine or two and please stay safe. Nostrovia! π·π·π·π·

The 2016 Barbaresco is a gorgeous entry-level wine in this range. Dark and fleshy, the 2016 offers terrific depth as well as plenty of character, which is great to see in its peer group. Black cherry, plum, mocha, leather, spice and licorice all meld together. One of the more open wines in the range, the Barbaresco will also give readers an idea of what to expect. This is an absolutely delicious wine in its peer group and price range. The straight Barbaresco is a blend from Meruzzano and young vine fruit from Ronchi. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2019)

Oct 10th, 2017Wild and profound. I was riding a travel/gourmet high for this birth year wine, so don't expect objectivity. However, I do believe it was something special. 70euro on wine list.
