Alban Estate Vineyard Roussanne

Despite the 15.3% alc. this is very well balanced and should easily hold up for several more years.

Quite oxidised and sherry-like. Nutty and yeasty, past it, but fun.

Much better than the 2013! Floral citrusy aromas with spicy undertones. Smooth unctuous mouthfeel.

I realize the label is butchered, but this is off scale awesome. Incredible honeyed lemon color, the nose is complex with layers of candied lemon and spice. Incredible layers of flavor...which was a great pairing with amazing dinner that Vanessa made (home made gnocchi with home made pesto and poached chicken - to die for!). Just awesome.

Faint floral nose. Viscous mouthfeel followed by fat rich mellowness (best I can do) and a ripe pear peel finish.

Very cool wine from John Alban, this is a 12-year-old roussanne that is so interesting. Hard to tell from the picture, but this wine has an incredibly deep golden-yellow color, hints of petrol on the nose, and flavors that just evolve one after the other on the palate. The finish is a little thin, suggesting to me that it may be on the downslope, but these wines are so cool with some age on them.
