Barrua Isola dei Nuraghi Carignane

The finish, "wham bam thank you ma'am!" Tobacco laced orange peels! Odd!

This was a lot of fun! Rich, earthy, oliveyeyey. Tasty!

Punica Barrua. Appealing spicy and herbal notes from the carignan. The cab shows disproportionate influence for its low percentage, filling out the palate with plush fruit. Drinking in a very good place five years in.

Sardinia

Vanilla, nutty oak, some meaty blood. "Wet earth". Some char. Dark red, easy fruit. Deep dark strawberry glaze. Heat.

Sardinia in a bottle. It would be awesome with grilled meat or wild boar sausage.

Animal notes, deep lengthy fruit and lush, long tannins.

My bottle did not survive. The color was brown and there were strong balsamic vinegar notes. Still some enjoyment in the wine, but over the hill at this point.

This is singularly one of the most interesting delicious and spectacular wines I regularly drink. Beautiful complexity, nose, finish... simply amazing and every vintage works. Please find and drink this wine!
