Wendouree Clare Valley Shiraz Malbec
Clare Valley, Mount Lofty Ranges, South Australia, Australia

Good to be back home with my cellar🥰
The wine took a while to open up, but then it showed all the elegance of the Wendouree Shiraz and the muscular intensity of the allegedly oldest vines of Malbec in the world.
It is always something special to open this producer.
Definitely not a typical Australian wine; extremely good with food. I would say supportive with the meal. Long and reassuring.
@Delectable Wine i am having a big issue, about 1500/1600 wine reviews of mine have gone. I can't visualise them anymore..could you please help?🙏thanks

Opened yesterday in one of those days that you only feel like a sip. That was lucky; today is showing much more focused, the fruit is crunchy, appealing and fresh. Spices and hints of balsamic. I couldn't work out how quickly was gone...then I realised my wife was happier than me😆. Shiraz and malbec pair outstandingly at Wendouree. Great tannin as usual and long.

In balance, medium body
Nice freshness, very elegant
Vibrant, so easy drinking
Quite long too
At least 5-10 "years ahead

Complex, heady aromas, fir, eucalyptus. Loved it.

Not the best bottle, but it gives the idea of what it could be like
Again it could have benefited from even a day in a decanter
It started off with an awful nail polish and slowly got better
But it is texturally that it has another pace
The tannin is sublime and it has a silky mouth altogether plus a long pleasant finish
I just can’t rate it any better, but I swear for the feeling in your mouth I’d drink over plenty of bottles I’ve rated better 🤷🏻♂️

Oct 2nd, 2016The stature of the old vine Shiraz tempered with fresh vibrant and well structured Malbec. Ageing nicely.

Oct 9th, 2015More chocolate / mocha notes. Acidity awesome. Herbal, medicinal edges.

Oct 9th, 201524 years old and still brick red and vibrant. The nose is unmistakably Malbec but the Cabernet sings on the long palate. The depth of flavor is remarkable with soft grippy tannins shining.
