Pale amber or medium gold? Salty sand and Manzanilla flower or oxidized white wine in a way, some marmalade. On the palate salty, slightly bitter expressive and tart. Just goes to show that these wines that have already passed through an oxidative ageing process can last for almost forever. #amontillado #montilla #perezbarquero — 6 years ago
*500ml bottle*
Amontillado characteristics:
Aged first under flor as a fino or manzanilla, then fortified to 17% to kill off the yeast and allow oxidation. Balances tension of lean texture with oxidation's complex, heady aromas.
What makes it special?
A model bodega focusing on small production, high-quality wines dedicated to tradition, this wine is first aged for 8 years under flor, then another 12 in the solera system. It is not for slugging back - this is an intense, intellectual, wine-geek's wine.

Topaz and amber hues. Single cask bottling. Showing intensity and age via concentrated spices, toast & roasted nuts. Layers of clove, nutmeg, coffee, smoke, pepper, toffee, bitter orange peels. Long finish. #Amontillado #Sherry #Jerez #AlexanderJules — 10 years ago
God only knows how old this mini bottle was? It was so smooth and delicious. I honestly believe that now is a wonderful time to invest in Jerez wines. They age forever and I believe they will get more and more expensive as their market decreases each year. Also there are less artisans and wineries willing to do the work and have the patience. #amontillado #jerez #sherryporn #sherrylover — 4 years ago
So many things I could say about this #amontillado suffice it to say that this is one of those wines that you plan the food around the wine — 9 years ago
Roasted almond, peach syrup, baked apple, dried green herbs, a touch of balsamic? There's so much going on. I feel like Jack Skellington, "What is this?!" #amontillado #sherry, that's what. — 9 years ago
