Lytton Springs Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend

For a Ridge Zin, this strikes me as a big boy. Rich nose has intense, rich, spicy blackberry fruit, accented with a little pungent American oak, and a nice dry gravel note underneath. Expansive in the mouth, the fruit is rich and concentrated, but avoids jamminess, and the palate also features a characteristic brambly component. Finishes dry and clingy, with tactile tannins (soft) coating the mouth. I’m having it with pasta, but this wine is built for a grilled porterhouse.

Blend of 72% Zinfandel, 18% Petite Sirah, 8% Carignane & 2% Mataro. Deep Ruby color with aromas of berry fruits, tobacco and earthy spices. On the palate flavors of blackberry and raspberry with black pepper, tobacco, citrus spice and a touch of earthy herbs. Fine firm tannins, long finish ending with fruit, earthy spice and some cedar. Nice!

A spectral array of herbs and fruit. Violet, crunchy purple berries, blood orange. Transparent. Enough tannins and concentration to age majestically, but a joy right now.

Young quality #zinfandel #petitsirah blend by Ridge - blackberry pie filling, vanilla and other sweet spices on the nose; beautifully balanced fruit and acidity ending in grippy tannins. Methinks this wine would be better laid down for 5+ years.

72% Zinfandel, 18% Petite Sirah, 8% Carignane, 2% Mataro.

This wine has a rich, full texture with juicy blackberry, black cherry, plum, candied blackcurrant, anise, black licorice, cedar box, pencil shavings, vanilla, coconut, nutmeg, clove, tobacco and wet earth.

The tannins are smooth and ripe; the alcohol is high and well-integrated. What a nicely balanced and delicious Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley!

It's young and I wonder if and how it will develop in the next few years. But today: a strawberry and a charcoal. Mild but with a pepper finish.

Still so bright with so little bottle age, but the Cab in the blend lends depth and a nice background waft of cassis. Will doubtless be better in several years.

Berry compote, cherry, medium acid, robust tannins

F-ing killer wine. This will improve, but it is already just awesome by me. Everything I love about Cali zin (chili peppers song? No?), with a supporting cast of petit verdot and friends lending a supple, lovely balance that just sings for me. Not to be dramatic, but I am not sure I have had a better wine at this price point in my life.

Full-bodied, peppery, some dark fruits. Smooth and heavy but a little spicy.
