Val di Suga (Angelini)
Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese
From 3 vineyards, medium Ruby with berry fruit, fragrant spice and earthy floral notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cherry, and licorice with notes of herb pepper spice and nice tangy mineral feel. Fine tannins, long finish ending with tobacco and cacao wrapped in an earthy spice character. Starting to drink well now, good for another decade.

May 21st, 2024Way too many options to tag this wine.
This needed a day to open up. Delicate and soft Sangiovese with refined structure. My preference over the Pieve Santa Restituta.
Really pretty. BYO at Lucali for the second time in two months.

A very nicely packed and stacked Brunello, give it at least another year worth a pt or 2.

Mar 3rd, 2024Medium-deep ruby color.
Aromas of red fruit, cherry, tomato leaf.
Dry. Flavors of black cherry, clove, leather, tomato leaf, black pepper finish. Rich velvety tannins. Couldn't ask for more from a Brunello.!

2016: A disappointment: early tannic mouthfeel opens up to… not a lot. Would expect better concentration, fruit, acid to take over but the result is fairly weak and underwhelming. Too young? Maybe but way better choices at lower price points. $65 (!) at Gary’s.
