Château Gloria
Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend
Drank 1/18/19 at the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux event in Miami. All wines from the 2016 Vintage.
Tasting pour, no formal notes taken. Most of these wines are very tight, and will require 5-15 years to really come together. Many will likely improve a few points with time.

Dark ruby hue. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, cassis, leather, plum. Plus body, full tannins, plus acid. Balanced, bold, and refined, with a long finish. Definitely worth pairing with hearty food. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot.

Apr 13th, 2024Enjoyed but did not love. Did not enjoy as much as the hype.

Jan 19th, 20212016. Young but really enjoyable. Took 4 hours in decanter to open up to stewy red and blue fruit smothered a bit by moderate wood, leather, slight acid and minerals. Good balance and concentration for the price - looking forward to more fruit and funk in 3-4 years. $43 at Bottle King - great buy.

Dec 20th, 2020This was excellent. We love the fruit, but it was very obviously young. The tannins definitely need several years to relax - really tight and chalky. I’m really excited about these with more age, hopefully I can wait that long....

Apr 26th, 2020Third wine of the week. Fabulous potential here. Even at this young age, the wine is fresh, lively, and smooth. The nose bursts from the glass with black currants, tobacco, and plum. The palate is already smooth with notes of graphite, soil, plum, and blackberry. Lively and fresh. Give this 10 years - it will be quite good. 2016 vintage on April 19, 2020

Apr 23rd, 2020Beautiful opaque ruby color. Rich woody tobacco on the nose. Initially acidic but once it opened up it expressed better with lovely complexity. Hints of cherry and anise as it dries to subtle bitterness.

Dec 16th, 2019Advanced Bordeaux: Further Exploring the Two Banks Class
I definitely have tasted this wine before, albeit from a different vintage. This wine has rounder fruit qualities, with a dusting of tannins. The tannins have softened and are finer, with cocoa powder hints.
