Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend

Meaty deep red fruit. Dark cherry, some soft herbal notes, bloody iron stuff. Still quite primal. Alcohol is noticeable but still quite balanced- particularly with time in decanter. A powerful and intense behemoth. I think this’ll take a long time and may never be pretty but great substance.

Full bodied, complex, depth, red currant, blackberry, sandlewood, cassis, hints of licorice, infinite finish 💥

pretty , floating , opulent ... ashen?

First 2003 Bordeaux I've had in a couple years. This vintage has settled down based on this bottle. The heat is gone and powerful, velvety, rich pure fruit shines.

03'.2 hour decant. Amazing!

A huge wine , but quite balanced. Palate staining finish .

Medium deep ruby core , medium wide ruby garnet rim . Quite slow and fat tears. Quite exotic nose , slightly high toned, lots of ripe spicy blackcurrant , dark cherry , blackberry and underneath a grafite and earthy note , marine scents also . On the palate round, ripe and sweet dark fruits, blackcurrant , blackberry and dark cherry , touches of grafite and cigar box. Surprisingly good , even refreshing acidity , ripe ample tannins; there is great intensity here. Balanced alcohol even though it is quite decadent and rich, lots of glycerin . Very long and succulent but balanced finish with touches of mineral and tobacco. The plumpness and exoticism does come across as pretty atypical for Latour , though it is a real success for the vintage and an undeniably enjoyable wine. Drinking ok now , with a decant of an hour or two but really did improve over the 5 hours we had it open. Will obviously last and improve over the next 20 years and I’m sure go further still .

Total rock star wine. Can’t imagine how good this is going to be in another 5yrs it’s still getting better but I’ll slurp it up right now.

Earthy nose. Nice palate of dark fruit with menthol/eucalyptus on the finish. Flavors lingered for many minutes. Wow
