Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

The Riserva was amazing and parallel to the normale but a couple years more youthful in the glass.

Very round, plush and rounded. Dates, macerated cherries, Brown spice, mocca, gingerbread, beef stew.

Note to self: this is the riserva!

This bottle v good - but has plateaued.

Tons of sediment. Tannins still overwhelming - wish I had given this a few more years at least.

Loads of sediment. Double decanted. Delicious.

Big wine that is still a baby. Dark cherry, tobacco, tar, leather and earth, with nice spice.
Another great vintage for this producer.

There was some talk of "passed" and "declining" but I say Nay. Beautiful, raisinated, lovely weight, acidity intact, sensual. I had the wrong food (Radek at l'Atelier arrived after we had started eating, and then sprung this on us mid-meal -- yeah, boo-hoo) but it hardly mattered, honestly.

Something wrong here! Slightly maderized & notes of VA. Dumped!!
