Dark, nearly black from all points, with brick just visible near the shallows. Nose bursts with cedar, oak, coffee, mushroom, composted roses, cardamom, tarragon, fig and prune, plum and sweet potato skins. Drinks well for vintage, showing laser of mint and baker’s chocolate, just-sweet mocha tobacco, espresso, cinnamon, clove and bark; expansive and complex, tannins still grainy. Bran and buckwheat, graphite, salted, dried plum. Grilled caramel, cedar from aforementioned grill, dried cranberry and black cherries. A pleasant surprise.

For the lean style Bordeaux lovers. Bell pepper tones and other green signs all over the place. 1994 was a bridge year. First vintage under the new management of Alfred Tesseron was 1995. Style of the chateau changed since then.

Médium ruby /garnet slightly less bright that the first . Slightly spicier , less attractive nose than 1990. Less ripe fruit , more cedar , grafite notes, touch of volatility . Appears more mature also. Comes across slightly awkward , slightly pinched acidity , rather rustic tannin . Not enough fruit to cover the structure. Should be drunk now , will only go downhill from here

Open. Old. Surprise the fruit on nose is very much black cherry some floral start to poke through. Bit of sage. Color is still very red not sure fruit will catch up to tannin but still well structured wine

Wonderfully melted leather, black currant, paprika and tobacoo, this shows no sign of decline and is fully ripe. Could last another 20 years!

Old style. Red pepper, smokiness, earthiness. Very pleasant both right upon opening and after about 2 hours. Drink in next few years.
