Vintage differences are a good thing. And with global warming, we’re losing so much of that, as every year seems to be uniformly hot and dry all over the planet. The FLX is one place, however, in which vintners battle the elements year-round, and the industry, fast thinking and resourcefulness this challenging climate requires separates the top class from the also-rans. All I have to say about this wine is that it’s both true to the chaotic nature of the FLX ‘18 growing season and an absolute accomplishment when simply evaluated as a bottle of quality dry Riesling.

Light gold color. Pineapple and petrol on the nose. Massive 4th of July sparklers with a sweetness component on the palate. Medium minus depth and medium finish. Very enjoyable. My best bottle of this wine and vintage.

Round and spicy. It tastes oaked to me. Maybe I’m wrong, it is a Riesling after all, I don’t know. I would prefer a tad bit drier also. It’s a little too sweet for a “dry” Riesling.

Paired nicely with Thai chicken curry. Medium gold color. Petrol and plastic on the nose. White grapes, ample sweetness, and a touch of lead on the palate. Past prime as it is lacking acidity and zip. Medium finish and heavy wine for a Riesling.

Not really meant for aging. Gold color. Reserved nose and lacked acidity. Sweet with subtle petrol tones. Need to serve colder than usual. My bad for waiting so long to drink.
