Blend of 70% Pinot Noir & 30% Chardonnay. Founded in 1776, Reims France, rare family owned company, still managed by Roederer family. In 1833, Louis Roederer inherited company his uncle & renamed company under his namesake. Medium lemon with fresh fruit aromas, nice mousse, rapid bubbles and yeasty notes. On the palate flavors of citrus, raspberry & toasty apple, crisp & refreshing, long finish ending with lemon, smoke & toasty yeasty mineral notes. Nice!

Saline - sea salt. Ripe peach and apricot, Meyer lemon, hints of tropical, plenty of Brioche, cream, vanilla, and sweet baking spices. Especially toasty on the palate. Elevated acidity.

Roederer makes so many Champagnes that some of the wines can get lost in the shuffle. The Brut Premier is one of my go-to, widely available, affordable Champagnes. And then there are Cristal and Cristal Rosé, which are typically off the charts great. But for some reason I rarely drink the wines in the middle of the range.
The 2002 Vintage is fabulous. Time has softened some of the wine's youthful exuberance. The mousse alone has a regal beauty and finesse that is captivating. But what really strikes me is how fresh and nuanced the 2002 is. The 2002 Vintage will drink well for many more years, and, possibly decades. Today, it is ravishingly beautiful. Happy Holidays!

2000 Vintage. There was one survivor...a magnum left over from a family wedding in 2011. Delicious in every way, toasty, biscuity and balanced. Funny, I thought I drank all of this at the wedding myself...

Nutty caramel. Great acidity....like royal style. A little more oak, more gastronomic, ultimate food champagne, very complex and dynamic. Very long finish that waters the mouth.
