Distinctive for gruner. Mildly tropical, gasoline, celery, white pepper. Spritzy and acidic.

2012 vintage. Amazing complexity. Underripe peach, lemon pith, candied apricot, white pepper, white lilies limestone, river rock, Thai basil. High acid, med + alc. weighty and nervy at the same time.

See the last note, just add to the fact that this is pretty typical of a Loiben based wine having a warmer climate with likely more loess soils.

Gruner doesn't normally capture me like this, but this wine was awesome!

A great introduction to Smaragd #grunerveltliner from the Wachau. The density and body of the top wines with energy and freshness of a younger wine. The nose and palate reveal the hallmark (for GV) cracked white peppercorn, basil, fragrant white flowers, with a persistent layer of pear and lime citrus fruit. A touch of ripeness falls in line with the house style. Excellent value and a great example of Smaragd. If you think Gruner is a basic Sauvignon Blanc like wine in 1L bottles try this and don't look back!

Lovely. Nice acid and a hint of sweetness make this a perfect pairing with any spicy fish dish.

Didn't expect to love this as much as I did! Went with fish dinner perfectly and had so much going on. Really enjoyed can't wait to enjoy again

2012 FX Pichler 'Urgestein Terrassen' Smaradg #Grüner #Wachau #Austrianwine. Intense nose of green grass, honeydew and white pepper with yellow apple and Asian pear on a long, smooth mineral finish. Texture is thick for Grüner. This is a serious #wine. #sommelier #sommlife #wineporrn #winepimping
