Profound meets delicious. Dark red cherries. Muted, but deep barnyard on nose. Depth, balance, funkiness; a fine, grainy tannin structure that is still evolving but with 13yrs is in a good, integrated place. Like Ananoby joining the Knicks: somehow makes all the parts work together. From a 500 ml bottle. Drank during a Knicks dismantling of the Nuggets, so no doubt influenced by that experience. Still, Colares one of my bar none fave regions. 100% Ramisco.

Light garnet, medium body, accessible tannins even young, though we know this can age forever. High acid, Nebbiolo-like, feels cool climate. Pomegranate, cherry, bit of smoke, tar and dried herbs, perfect shareable size too

Columbia county 2.0: 100% Ramisco from one of the worlds great wacky wine areas- vines not just on sandy soil, but on sand, in Colares, Portugal. The closest soul equivalent I can think of is Barolo, as it has that intensity of red fruit but within such a light to moderate frame, though tannins don’t bear the same aggressiveness as Barolos. Still, the age worthiness of these Ramiscos could easily outlive me. Needle like acidity & Gorgeous red fruits. Doesn’t feel like infanticide. Have two bottles by another Colares producer which hopefully I can resist In the next few decades. Paired beautifully with baked chicken thighs with Medjol dates, lemons, thyme, & shallots.

Medium garnet; medium plus intensity aromas of red cherry, red and black currant, pomegranate, dried herbs, saline; dry, medium plus acid, medium smooth tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, medium plus intensity flavors consistent with aromas; very special and unique

How can I count the ways: so fresh, so alive, that this 100% Ramisco is really in its infancy, yet delicious drunk now. Everything is small boned & small grained about it. Like just picked wild raspberries & blackberries, with some leaves & stems not sorted out. So high toned yet a deeper, incessant, sour plum like baseline.

CDC approved interior dinner with my homey. Time to celebrate. Think aged Rioja but super charged with acidity. Collares is One of the great growingly extinct wine species so please support it. Briefly decanted to rid it of some decayed cork but otherwise not too much sediment if at all. Iron red rim, tertiary flavors of Unami but still so fresh & vibrant, with crushed red fruits & currants. I’ve read the half life on Collares wines can be as long as a 1rst growth Bordeaux.

Like a cross between Gamay and Aglianico. Super fragrant. 11.5%. Superb slippery fruit. Amazing length and freshness. Made from the Romasco grape.
