Vino Lauria

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Sangiovese 2014

For the price paid, this delivers what it promises. The nose is red fruit and tobacco leaf it does have almost a volcanic red clay sort of thing going on. Entry shows very bright acidity with medium body, raspberry, tobacco. Had a green-ness to olive, capers, hint of green onion... showing in the middle. Definitely not in a bad way. On the finish , a hint of white pepper but a surprising amount of stiff oak tannin on the finish suggests this one still has at least a couple of years left. Holding the other bottle to pair with salmon and lemon/garlic/butter sauce and capers, and rosemary and garlic potatoes. — 12 days ago

Riserva Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Sangiovese 2012

Still to young I think. Tanine has some tard edges. Chocolate, tabaco, cherries, bayleaf. Full body, so I understand why I like this wine. — 8 days ago

SI VINO ROSSO Petit Rouge 2015

Beautiful discovery ! A fruity and elegant indigenous red from Val d'Aosta in a beautiful bottle sealed with beeswax! The nose is floral and fresh, intriguing. I loved the silkiness in the mouth, with a delicate taste full with mountain berries. Everyone around the table loved it, I'll buy again as soon as I can. — 13 days ago

St. Ercolano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2009

Pent up funk is released on open. Deep dark ruby in color, medium+ body. Gorgeous stewed red fruit aromas, with red bell pepper, potting soil, and a hint of mint. Most of this carries through on the palate, add a touch of spearmint and red licorice. This is one of the more complex Tuscan wines that I've had in a long time. Unfortunately, the finish doesn't complete the stellar review. The tannins are very pronounced, bone dry-- perhaps they would soften will even more bottle age? At 14% ABV there's not much more to burn off. I'm not trying to be a hard ass, but it's only the finish that prevents this from being a 96 point wine for me.
