Dark ruby coloration showing some translucency. On the nose, cherry, dark berry, anise, florals, and vanilla- hints of minerals and clay. On the palate it is rich and full, with notes cherry, dark berry, anise, vanilla and clay. Chewy tannins balanced nicely. Medium finish. A bargain value wine - -$25 at B-21. — 10 days ago

Cume do Avia

Dos Canotos Vino Branco

Cume do Avia’s premium white, the 2019 Branco dos Canotos is a blend of Lado, Caíño Blanco, Albariño, Loureira Blanca from 10-15 years old vines. Complex, quite unusual nose with aromas of hay and pistachio. Citrus flavors on the palate. Dry, mineral, vibrant, racy acidity. Nice saline, slightly bitter finish. — 17 days ago

Le Piane

Maggiorina vino rosso 2018

Spicy nose. A bit grapey initially. Sort of like an Alto-Piemonte version of Beaujolais. This is a field blend of 12 varietals. Mostly Croatina and Nebbiolo. Aged 12 months in stainless steel. Plenty of herbal notes with some pepper on the finish. — 16 days ago

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Sangiovese 2017

Delectable Wine
9.1

The 2017 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. Readers will find a wine that offers plenty of Vino Nobile depth, but in a mid-weight style that makes it accessible. Bright red cherry, dried flowers, mint and white pepper add a brilliant upper register to the red Sangiovese fruit. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2021)

Canneto

Riserva Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Sangiovese 2015

Dark but transparent red purple. Abundant nose of black cherry and graphite. Medium full palate of black cherry, anise, and black cranberry. Firm (medium plus) tannins that soften a bit with air wrapping up medium acidity through the moderate finish. A nicely complex expression of Nobile. Ready for top southern Italian fare or just upgrade more pedestrians fare. Drink now or hold until 2027. — 2 days ago

Asinone Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Sangiovese 2017

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2017 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Asinone is ample and creamy, with all of the natural radiance of the year on display. Ripe red cherry, rose petal, cedar, lavender and spice all build as this extroverted Vino Nobile shows off its considerable allure. Even with all of its exotic beauty, the 2017 retains quite a bit of energy and plenty of structure, with a good deal of translucent vibrancy as well. In a word: superb.
