Blend of about 65% Cab Sauv, 25% Merlot and rest Petit Verdot. Deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruit aromas and herb notes. On the palate black raspberry and blackberry, currant-like, with tobacco, leather and smoky oak notes. Fine tannins, medium finish ending with fruit and earthy mineral tones, drink now. — 4 months ago
It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Deep purple in color with a reddish rim.
Beautiful nose of black plums, black cherries, red currants, light cedar, coffee, light earth, herbs, light vegetables and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Very dry on the palate with black plums, black currants, coffee, oak, light cloves, earth, tobacco leaf, bitter herbs, peppercorn, light licorice and green tea.
Tangy finish with fine grain tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a delicious Merlot from Napa valley. Showing nice complexity with an elegant mouthfeel.
Needed 2 hours in a decanter to open up.
This 8-year-old Merlot is still drinking beautifully. Lost some of its fruits, and it is very dry now.
Drinking at its peak, and will not get any better from here. Really loved the nose at this point.
Good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with barbecue meats or burgers. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.
14.4% alcohol by volume.

2019 vintage. 65% merlot. 30% cab franc. 5% cab sauv. Medium-medium/heavy body. Good earthiness throughout the nose and flavor profile. A bit chunky with some immediate richness at the start and dwindling softness at the end. Solid effort. Not spectacular by any means but reminiscent of a friend’s labrador. Just won’t stop trying to become your new best friend and enough personality and performance to possibly succeed. 9.4.25. — 10 months ago
Blend of 65% Zinfandel, 16% Carignane, 14% Petite Sirah & 5% Mataro. Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruits, oak and spicy and scents. On the palate flavors of cherry and blackberry with pepper, cacao, espresso, floral and smoky oak. Well balanced, fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, smoke and dried spice. Will age. — a year ago
65% Kratošija / 35% Vranec.
Im not too familiar with these varietals but this drinks like a hearty california syrah. Clear deep ruby color, with a masculine nose featuring cut wood, nuts, plums and cherries. There’s a bit of heat from high alcohol and strong acidity levels, medium tannic structure, but a good feel. Lots of ripened fruit, chocolate, and spice. Long warm finish. — 2 years ago
Last bottles from a 6-pack. I had two bottles that were sadly riddled with EA, but the other four were sound.
This was one of the wines I served for my annual WWC hosting. All wines served blind.
65 semillon/ 34 Sauvignon Blanc/ 1 Muscadelle
Always love these, more so than most domestic Bordeaux Blanc style white wines, mostly because of the texture. Straw color in the glass. Quite the tropical aromatics (white peach, mango) but it’s not overpowering. The barrel ferment is apparent with the rounded profile on the palate…the vein of acidity that was there a few years ago is fading, so this showed even more opulent than normal. Honeyed lemon, guava, orange blossom but a backbone of sea salt and herbs snap the structure in place to show nice balance and a nod to Bordeaux. I’d recommend popping now and over the next couple years to enjoy the freshness. — a month ago
2018 vintage. A blend of Merlot (65%), Cabernet Franc (20%), and Cabernet Sauvignon from diverse vineyards in Saint-Emilion and Côtes de Castillon owned by the Perse family. Aged for 15 months in used barrels from Pavie and Monbousquet. A solid, bold wine, ready to drink, with good fruit and some of the chalkiness that I associate with Castillon. Abv. 14,5%. — 6 months ago
Dark ruby/ purple in color with a purplish rim.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel.
Showing red and black fruits with light wood, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso, bell pepper, earth, herbs and vegetables.
Spicy finish with fine grained tannins and bitter herbs.
Fruit forward and elegant. Rich and nicely balanced. Complex and interesting.
Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime. Gets earthier after an hour in the bottle.
13.6% alcohol by volume.

[65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon] Medium-dark purple color, mineral and dark fruit aromas and flavors, also quite structured and tight, very good depth and length, drinks well but seems to want another 5-10 years of cellaring (2016 vintage effect?). . . . — a year ago
A blend of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot, aged in French oak 65% new and 35% 1 year old, fruit sourced from Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruit, earthy and floral spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and tart cherry flavors, with vanilla, licorice, citrus and herb spice. Fine tannins, well balanced long finish ending with tart fruit and a sweet earthy mineral character. Nice! A Fav! — 2 years ago
#AgedWineTuesday
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Full bodied with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, spices, oak, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, light earth, light vegetables, herbs, tobacco leaf and black pepper.
Medium finish with grippy tannins and raspberries.
This 15 year old, Fifth Growth Bordeaux, is still young and tight. Needs 5 to 10 years in the bottle to mature properly.
I gave it 90 minutes in the decanter, but it probably was not enough.
Robert Parker 96 points. Wine Spectator 92 points.
Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel. Grippy and rich.
Definitely needs food at this point, like a big piece of steak.
A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.
13% alcohol by volume.

Very good but didn’t blow me away like earlier vintages. Flavor profile and drinkability as a pop and pour wine are all there and worth the price - I’ve just grown to expect more from Synergy 65. — 8 months ago
Blend of Merlot (65%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%), Cabernet Franc (3%) and Petite Verdot (3%). Dark and murky garnet color. Aromas of violets, forest floor and black fruit with a touch of graphite. Flavors of red plum and blackberry fruit with hints of tobacco and dark chocolate. Medium finish and body with reasonably well polished dusty tannins. Nicely structured. Solid.value. — 9 months ago
Blend of 65% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon in blend, aged 9 months in oak, pale lemon with delicate aromas of citrus, stone fruits and floral note. On the palate flavors of apple, pear and lime citrus with notes of pepper and spice. Medium+ finish, slight cedar notes, vivid acidity and ends with herb mineral spice. Nice! — a year ago
Happy New Year’s Eve to you all! 🎉
To celebrate the holiday, we’re popping this special bottle of bubbles we’ve been eager to try. 😝
It’s Champagne Philipponnat’s 2004 vintage champagne made with 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay hailing from a single clos – Clos des Goisses – surrounded by a traditional stone wall in the Village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. 🍾
Talk about a singularity of place! It was first produced as a single vineyard wine in 1935, a pioneering approach for a Champagne House in a land known for regional blending.
After fermentation, this wine aged on the lees for 10 YEARS in Philipponnat’s historic cellars in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ; a Premier Cru Village of the Grand Vallée de la Marne, located on the southerly flank of the Montagne de Reims, where Pinot Noir dominates like in the Grande Montagne.
Okay for the tasting note! Wow. 🤯 It has pastry, brioche, nougat, and marzipan for days, next to toasted almond, lemon curd, white peach, baked yellow apple, dried chamomile, blossom, and wet slate notes. Despite its unequivocal richness, it has a spine of acidity lending balance and brightness.
Cheers to 2025; may it be filled with hope, health, joy, adventure, and amazing sips! 🍾🥂 — a year ago
