Nice. Lots of layered ripe dark fruit, just a touch of vanilla. Spur cherry on the palate finish. The fun part is the tannins though, enough grip a texture to underline the slightly rustic character. — 2 years ago
Great balance. Typical Merlot. Juicy and Fruity with a strong underline. Great quality for a not so expensive wine. — 6 years ago
Nose of ripe black cherry, violets with underline oak. Pinot sap, spice with medium bodied tannins. In a very nice place now and will keep evolving over many years. — 8 years ago
The prettiest of a great lineup. Much more Mosel than Vouvray, leads with intense, ripe white peach and nectarine, fragrant apple, subtle florals. The exuberance of fruit never exceeds into Voigner-like cocktail but it’s kept in check by the mineral backbone in the nose. The palate has a perfect touch of rd to underline the fruity character and abundant minerality and acidity promising even better times to come with age — a year ago
Lots of berry & dried fruit w/ a bold vanilla underline that doesn’t overwhelm. Good with rich chocolate dessert — 5 years ago
What a beautiful thing. The rose-petal & velvety color hints at the depth that rests beneath it. Fine tannins gently underline a lush and chewy mid-palate composed of truly bright & slightly smokey notes that rhyme with a joyful and juicy mouthfeel. #BurgundianDelight — 7 years ago
A beautiful Brunello! 2006 is ready to drink… dark cherry, licorice, a bit of old leather with enough backbone to underline the burst of mature sangiovese fruit.
Enjoyed with seared tuna topped with roasted tomatoes and capers…Excellent!
Enjoy it now… — 2 years ago
I was somewhat skeptical opening this. ‘09s, in my experience, range from lacking complexity to soft, lush, and monochromatic, with a dab of everything in between. This was a gorgeous fit for braised lamb with spring veggies and black lentils. The nose is definitely subdued, this is not explosively aromatic Volnay, but its savory and mouth-filing character make up for it. Theres a lovely sense of animal to the wine, there’s leaves, clove, toasted sandalwood, and this sweet licorice note that underline a gorgeous core of red currants and cherry. The umami and lovely fruit character are further postured by slightly imposing tannin, tannins that don’t impede drinking but beg for a little food to accompany them. That being said, this was really gorgeous with dinner and a couple hours to slowly open. Yet another reminder that its easy to pick apart Burgundy out of context (food) but when it hits, damn it hits the spot. — 5 years ago
Fanrtastic evening with David who brought this 2009 Pommard as a gift. I tried to underline the taste with a "canard au confit d'onion". It was a right choice. Thanks David! What an amazing evening!! — 8 years ago
