Le Fornaci Lugana Trebbiano 2023

Tommasi Le Fornaci — Lugana 2023
Lake Garda, Lombardy, Italy 🇮🇹

Overview
Made from Turbiana, the signature grape of Lugana, this is a wonderfully approachable expression from vineyards just south of Lake Garda. Soft, fragrant, and effortlessly charming, it favors freshness and delicacy over complexity or weight.

Aromas & Flavors
White peach, pear, citrus, and gentle tropical fruit lead the way, complemented by delicate floral notes and a subtle mineral undertone.

Mouthfeel
Light- to medium-bodied, fresh, and softly textured. The acidity is lively without being sharp, while the fruit gives the palate a pleasing roundness and an easy, clean finish.

Food Pairings
Grilled fish, shrimp, light pasta, risotto, fresh salads, mild cheeses, or simply enjoyed on its own.

Verdict
An affable, uncomplicated white that knows exactly what it wants to be. Fruity, fresh, delicate, and extremely versatile—one of those bottles equally comfortable at the dinner table, an afternoon gathering, or poured casually without thinking twice.

Did You Know?
Lugana sits along the southern shores of Lake Garda, where clay-rich soils and the lake’s moderating influence provide an excellent environment for Turbiana. The grape is closely related to Verdicchio and is particularly valued for combining freshness, texture, and subtle minerality.

🍷 Personal Pick
This is pure easygoing pleasure. Nothing cerebral or demanding here, just a delightful, softly tropical, gently mineral white that almost anyone can appreciate. Season, occasion, or level of wine experience hardly matters; chill it, pour it, and enjoy.

Poggio al Tufo Rompicollo Maremma Toscana Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2021

2021 vintage.
Sangiovese 60 % and Cabernet Sauvignon 40 % from Pitigliano estate in Maremma, Tuscany with a southwest exposure.
Owned by Tommasi family since 1997.
Rompicolla is ‘breakneck’ but means tremendously steep and slippery slope…a risky adventure.
Soils are deep in volcanic tuff.
Stainless steel ferment and matured 1 year in 65 HL Slavonian oak casks.
Red cherries, raspberries, savoury spice, and floral.
Medium bodied but fresh and clean on the finish.
This wine loves food ….and I appreciate that.

Very nice super Tuscan, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Easy to drink and pares well with pasta, red and white meat and a variety of dishes. Ruby color with pleasant nose and taste of dark cherry. Drank in April 2026. Smooth. — 3 months ago

Rafael Valpolicella Classico Superiore Corvina Blend 2020

Clear, medium ruby to garnet in color; on the nose it's, clean with pronounced primary and secondary aromas of cherries, almond, and cloves; on the palate, it's dry with high acidity, medium tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of tart cherry, ripe strawberry, tar, and black tea with a long finish. This wine is complex and intense. Overall, I rate this wine as very good. Nellie likes it too. — 7 months ago

Ripasso Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2020

Freddy, on the sweet side, but still light and pretty fresh. Honestly, a great representation of what we’re looking for here and really we had it with everything. Could probably have it with most meals. It’s such a good compliment, easily drinkable. — 4 months ago
