What a delicious bottle! — a year ago
A lovely bottle of classic Lafite Rothschild. Ordered with old friends and new at Waldhaus Sils on the fourth anniversary of my father’s death. He was biased to Cabernet Sauvignon / Left Bank Blends, and appreciated his Lafite, even if he stopped buying them as prices got out of hand. 1995 was chosen in honor of the year that I met my friend Julian, with whom I have worked at two companies across 20+ years and now count as a dear friend and peer in our industry. The bottle was in great shape, likely bought en primeur and stored in the Alpine retreat’s cellars (tour tomorrow!). Oscar, the manager and sommelier has been at the Waldhaus for 32 years, so it was purchased in his early days. The tannins were very well integrated, with some dark fruits, delicious tobacco and cedar, and a long finish. — 3 years ago
Picked this up at the winery in FLX. Aroma of citrus and minerals. Tart minerals up front. Not your typical Chardonnay. Minerals and citrus in the middle. A quick finish. — 5 years ago
I’ve been itching to try Il Poggione’s 2015 Brunello since buying a case this time last year. I could count on one hand how many Brunellos I’ve had in the past, so this was exciting from the POV not just of this being a very highly rated wine, but from it being a new experience and foray into the world of Tuscany.
It has a translucent crimson robe, with aromas of dried cherry, tobacco, cedar, iron, beef blood and from somewhere an aromatic lift of lavender.
The palate is defined by vivacious acidity, mouthwatering tannin and a core of candied cherry, walnut, dark chocolate, espresso, all cut to a very savoury tune.
Very, very long life ahead. Would love to taste this alongside Produttori del Barbaresco’s 2016 Barbaresco in ten years’ time. — 5 years ago
Deep red. Dark fruit transitions to light spice and dusty cocoa, with a tannic dry finish. Fantastic wine. — 6 months ago
Too vanilla and sweet - one of Anne’s fav — 3 years ago
Fruity, great body, not too sweet or acidic. Will explode upon opening, be warned. — 4 years ago
Sweet and easy red wine to drink as table wine. Really liked it surprisingly and was very affordable . — 4 years ago
Golden yellow with pale reflections at the rim. Nose of lemon/pear skin/hints of pineapple, caramel, nuts, and a thread of mint and a nice mineral/flint tone. The palate possesses a dizzying array of flavors. The same fruits and caramel and nuttiness play out and are joined by a lemon oil, and light straw note. Big and broad and at the same time precise and delineated. This was fantastic, and firing on all cylinders. Gained depth as the hours unfolded. — 6 years ago

🍇 100% Arneis | Roero DOCG, Piedmont, Italy
A classic Northern Italian white, crafted from Arneis grapes sourced across the villages of Vezza d’Alba, Piobesi, and Monteu Roero, all part of the heartland of the Roero appellation.
On the nose:
Fragrant and inviting, with aromas of white flowers, ripe pear, and a citrus lift. A gentle thread of mineral elegance keeps it grounded and regionally expressive.
On the palate:
Dry, crisp, and clean, with a smooth texture, refreshing acidity, and a subtle, pleasantly bitter almond note on the finish — a signature Arneis trait. Light-bodied yet structured, it’s harmonious and polished, with more personality than your average summer white.
Food pairing:
Versatile and food-friendly, perfect with seafood, light pasta dishes, grilled veggies, and fresh cheeses like burrata or robiola.
A true gem from Piedmont expressive, regional, and quietly elegant.
Cheers to Arneis done right! 🍐🍋🌸

Dark fruit forward, juicy blackberry, blueberry, and plum, underbrush and earth, resolved tannins and excellent lift. Wonderful. Maybe the best red I’ve had from the Finger Lakes. — 4 years ago
From Magnum — Bruised apple. Some signs of aging. Should improve. — 5 years ago
More fruit forward than expected and kept waiting for tannins to kick in. Solid cherry and dark berry with slight vanilla taste. Buying another well valued bottle (only $8 at TJs) and letting it age a year or more. — 6 years ago
Such an intense bottle for a fun little rosé (quar wine 5? I’ve lost count) have bought this many times — 6 years ago
