Fruity, smooth - exactly what I like. There are wonderful berry notes. Also, there's a light finish and is not as full-bodied as one expects for a four year old red. Personally, I find that to be a sign that the vintner knows what he wants to do with the bottle. We purchased this particular wine from a shop in Paris after falling in love with the story that the vintner is a geologist turned wine maker. It certainly shows that a knowledge of science and soil can go a long way when it comes to making wine! — 8 years ago

2018 Tuscan, probably Sangiovese. Enjoyable. Red berries and herbs. — 2 years ago
This Carabella masterpiece which scored 91 from WIne Enthusiast (WE) 6 years ago is supposed to “hold up a decade or so”, per WE, and it does. From the Chehalem AVA, which is the northernmost AVA of Willamette valley, geologist turned winemaker Mike Hallock produced a masterpiece. The fruits, blackberries and boysenberries, along with the unique Oregon minerality blend together really well. Aging for nearly 10 years is great as the earlier consumption of this wine didn’t show the true character. Another great Oregon Pinot Noir! — 6 years ago
Delicious malbec for a very reasonable price. My new go to. I'm a geologist, so the stone in the label makes it even better as an every day wine to keep at the house. — 9 years ago
Cedar, dusty earth, dried herbs, strawberry and raspberry, all wrapped in a gauze of rock dust and pulverized dried flowers. Amazing acidity and a faint saltiness in the finish. 100+ year old Cinsault bush vines from the nooks and crannies of Itata. Dr. Terroir (soil geologist Pedro Parra) is putting his terroir where his mouth is. Roughly 30% whole cluster, but 100% delicious. — 3 years ago
2014 opened Feb 2018. Very tight right out of the bottle. Needs decanting!. Mint and leather on the nose. Puckery tannins on the front -- which loosen up as the wine breathes. No fruit, though -- but funky in a good way. I taste the limestone terroir. Mineral tannins all the way back to the swallow. This wine is not for the faint of heart. If you like smooth well-balanced Cabs, then this wine is not for you. If you like over-oaked Napa Cabs, then you probably won't like this. But if you're an oenophile geologist who loves the way soils are expressed in the grape, this wine is for you! — 6 years ago
This limited production Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Syrah showcases the unique growing region that is the Columbia Valley. Dark fruit, graphite and smoke. This is a big wine. Very big. — 9 years ago

Hints of hazelnut and mint. Strong aroma that reminds one of truffles. Definitely made from grapes grown in soils with 42% porosity and a medium moisture content, presence of cracked limestone below the soils can be tasted in the aftertaste. It does not taste like grape juice…… in other words my son who wrote this review is a geologist and likes spending his father’s money buying nice wine — 5 months ago
