Sofia’s favorite vineyard plot. A “smoke show” we called it. Generally the 19s were the standouts — beautifully balanced and giving all of the dried herb and earthy notes typical of great Chianti Classico — but this was an exception, opulent and spicey (allspice, cinnamon, cedar) and so so fragrant. Stay in the look out for these wines — Sofia (the estate manager) and Giocomo (vineyard manger and cellar master, most recently of Isole & Olena) are making some really intentional and pretty wines here. — 3 years ago

Descripción
Es un vino tinto elaborado con Syrah con una ligera maceración y
estabilización en barrica, y un toque de Monastrell de alta extracción con
crianza larga.

Esta singular combinación de variedades y técnicas de
vinificación da como resultado un vino franco, alegre, intenso en nariz y
sabroso en boca.
Cepas jóvenes de Syrah de los valles del Vinalopó sobre terreno arenoso de alta densidad de plantación, con riego de apoyo con agua del subsuelo. Cepas viejas de Monastrell en vaso de más de 40 años cercanas a la Laguna de Salinas.
Vendimiado en septiembre de 2014, se maceró durante 5 días a 22ºC de temperatura. Una vez finalizada la fermentación, el Syrah estuvó en depósito con sus lias hasta que finalizó la fermentación maloláctica y el Monastrell se crió en barrica durante 9 meses. Finalizado este tiempo, se mezcló con el Syrah durante 1 mes en barricas usadas y se embotellaron.
Cata
Es un vino donde se encuentra un Syrah franco en nariz, casi sin matices. Al mismo tiempo, es un vino donde se muestra la variedad de técnicas utilizadas, y el toque de la Monastrell. Tiene el color muy atractivo, de una gran intensidad y con una tonalidad con reflejos violetas que se mantienen en el tiempo. En nariz es fruta, fruta madura, sólo Syrah, con un leve recuerdo a fino café sin tostar. En boca, tiene una buena entrada, muy sabrosa. Con un paso por boca intenso y franco, tiene un final con moderada acidez y donde resalta la fruta roja madura mezclada con un toque especiado y un poco de tabaco, proporcionados por la Monastrell. — 9 years ago
