10 years and still a tannic wall letting out a wiff of rose — 4 years ago
Older Barolos are so much better than their younger siblings. Unlike Bordeaux just a 3 7 year span can charm these wines. This wine has chocolate and coffee tones a bit of citrus and a very earthy overlay. Decanted for an hour and drank over 4 hrs. The last glass was like red velvet. The first glass wasn’t to shabby either — 7 years ago
Ruby/ brick in color with medium intensity.
Red fruits on the nose with light oak, tobacco and chocolate notes.
Medium bodied with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with cherries, plums, currants, light wood, spices, coffee, earth, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs and black pepper.
Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
What a delicious Barolo. Elegant and rich. Complex and interesting. Well balanced with a nice mouthfeel.
The 2019 vintage in Barolo was excellent. This Single Vineyard is particularly unique for the vintage as it is already very approachable.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 20 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 7 years.
Easy drinking right out of the bottle, and good by itself as a sipping wine.
100% Nebbiolo grapes were aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 4 years.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

This was a purchase from last bottle so I figured I would give it a try. Darker color than expected. Nice taste longer than I like taste. But overall very good. Look forward to purchasing more Barolo from this vineyard. — 3 months ago
JR wine first taste 3/12/17. Bright red fruit and perfumy nose. Great balance of fruit and earthy notes and supple body on palate with nice medium finish. Yum. 6,666 bottles. Fossati, Collareto and Sant'Anna vineyards. — 8 years ago

The Fossati MGA is bifurcated administratively with the commune of Barolo (to the south) and La Morra (to the north). Cesare Bussolo’s holdings are in the latter. In fact, his vines run like a thin ribbon right through the middle of one of Roberto Voerzio’s plots.
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three hours. The 2020 pours a very pretty garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with soaring notes of ripe red fruit: Morello cherry, raspberry, strawberries, roses, curaçao, licorice, talcum powder, a touch of tar, some dried herbs, dry earth and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and savory. This is a beautiful wine and I was really grateful to share one of my bottles with a good friend at Via Farina’s new location at Regency Landing. Drink now with patience and through 2060.
I would like to add that I have only become aware of Cesare Bussolo’s work over the last few years and believe it or not, it was his 2018 Fossati (from a tricky vintage no less) that caught my attention. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite producers in La Morra. He makes a very small amount of wine (relatively speaking) but I have really enjoyed the process of not only discovering Cesare’s wines (his Barbera’s are not to be overlooked!) but also sharing them with friends. Thanks @Lyle Fass for the assist! — a month ago
