This feels like what all of the best “funky” orange wines without extreme skin contact are gesturing towards, their platonic ideal. But it isn’t a static edifice of an ideal, rather a great vibrating energy vortex, changing from minute to minute. Marmalade, spot prawn heads, salt, new sneakers, gooseberries, Bacardi limon, pickled red onion, sherry, green tomatoes, curry leaf, Hoja Santa, cilantro stems, seville orange. Lunch with my new "Salt Girls" at Tanzy... They have some idea... Anyway, this was a good bottle; fragrant, certainly Italian... I said "new sneakers," one of the girls said; "it's like opening up a box of band-aids." Only question was, the amount of sediment in this bottle... By the bottom of this wine everyone's glass was decorated with this grit.. Didn't effect the taste, I would have actually liked to have drunk more.... — 12 years ago

Happy New Year to the Delectable community! Marc Hebrart is one of my favorite RM’s and this Special Club bottling paired with black-eyed peas ended up being a fantastic way to start the New Year. Initially fresh sliced Asian pears on the pop and pour but as this warmed and received air, it became super complex with baked apples, brioche, white peach, pineapple, waxy red fruit (raspberries) and the smell of a fresh, brand new pair of sneakers. On the palate, this was full of bright lime, meringue. Minerals. Slightly nutty? Crisp. Acid is high. Finish is long. Very long. Sublime. Disgorged December 2017 — 7 years ago

Bold, balanced, thick and juicy! Buy this if you find it! Aromas: Smokeyleather, oaky vanilla, rich bold sour cherry, New Pair of sneakers. Taste: its amazing! dark red fruits, Cassis, blackberry, undergrowth and black pepper. This has great mouth feel, with balanced tannins and acidity.

Crazy value at $10. Trader Joe's.

Borderline black. Funky cheese and old sneakers imbedded in candle wax.. River monster. Fungal plum and mica. Lighter mouthfeel rimmed with tiny-grained wash of tannins. Dark clouds of sedimentary river bottom and black currant skins. Black cherry, burnt blueberry, amethyst. Smoky and crystalline with frankincense.
