Sweet and ripe fruit...black cherry, raspberry jam, with fresh squeezed blackberries (which I always pick up with this wine, and I attribute that to the decent percentage of Malbec in it). Good bit of licorice too. Quite silky and medium bodied on the palate...not as hefty as expected and definitely not as tannic/chalky as expected. Kiss of mint with raspberry infused dark chocolate with hardly any savory/herbal notes towards the finish. This seems totally open for business. — 11 days ago

Fruit in your face, great balance, excellent from pop and pour, ready to kick some butt. Very approachable wine. Blackberry that has juuuust ripened on the front and quite a bit of it without seeming to be overextracted. Just right. This wine would go with a myriad of foods, not just a steak. Tannin starts to build in the middle, but is actually quite soft for a 2014. Touch of pepper on the finish without being obnoxious. REALLY balanced wine.

J. Schram Champagne Pinot Noir Chardonnay 2008

Birthday celebration for @Cody Uzzel at Lucio’s with a bunch of friends. All wines (except sparklers) tasted blind.
.
First time trying J. Schram but certainly won’t be the last. This is some serious sparkling wine in keeping with many of Krug GC’s characteristics that I love so much. Rich and full in body with nougat, caramel, nutty milk chocolate, and caramelized brown sugar. Perfect way to kick off a killer dinner.

These can be very good, and their late disgorged offerings can be spectacular. I’ve found that the Reserve (Blanc de noir) shows better younger and the Jschram (Blanc de Blanc) shows better older, but age is very relative as these can hold for quite a while!

J. Schram Brut Rosé 2005

Oxidation obvious. Years , forest floor. I aged this 2005 to see if rose color faded. It did. Should have drank this wine earlier. — 10 days ago

Brut Rosé North Coast Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay 2016

Method Traditionnelle vintage sparkling dry Rose made from Pinot Noir with a touch of Chardonnay for complexity. Lots of citrus fruits and lemon zest, white cherry, brioche, apricot. Very pretty blush color with nice zippy acidity and medium finish. — 15 days ago

@Ryan Vento that’d be so awesome you could come. Early 2020 sounds good though haha. It won’t be too busy here. What’s in your itinerary? 😂

The original lineup was Addax, Bevan, Alpha Omega, Cade, Inglenook, Newton, Stag’s, and Amici. However, I’m thinking about either substituting two of those for Kenzo and Far Niente, or simply adding them both to the itinerary and expanding the trip in doing so.

$120 direct from the winery, perhaps a riddlers circle shipment or maybe cellars club. I recently recycled all the fliers because I’m relocating so no flowery descriptions. Rather, I had a glass of the Blanc de Blanc at dinner last night and I’d be happier with that one compared to this one. For me, this one is not worth 4x the price and all the extra space it takes up in the fridge. — 20 days ago
