More jammy up front at PnP than 07. Settled in nicely though. Nose of blackberries. Tastes of blackberry, black raspberry, dark cherry. Some cocoa and graphite notes and spicy black pepper at the finish. Great tannins still there at the end. — 6 years ago

Ruston is hard to beat. My favorite winemaker. Potent alcohol/wood taste really makes this a great flavor. Let it sit a couple hours for best flavor you've tasted in a cab. — 11 years ago
Nice mix of fruit and body. At this age there's no harsh tannins left — 12 years ago
Really quite good. Interesting nose and great mix of sweet and spicy. Cab Franc shows — 10 years ago
Nice fruit, holding on well. — 11 years ago
@lastbottle this is the regular sav blanc not single vineyard.
More round than crisp, this is full of mango, a touch of lime, and tastes of an obscure MI fruit called a paw paw. There’s a hint of honeysuckle at the finish. Refreshing on a hot day. Really nice. — 7 years ago
Second vintage of Ruston Family La Maestra Cabernet Sauvignon for us, not as expressive on the nose as the 2008 but with some more aged characteristics to it. Deep ruby red with a slight garnet edge. Lots of sweet spices and dark berries on the nose. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium to medium plus bodied. Layered palate with a spice kick to start, some earthy characteristics and dark berries. A little damp showing the age as well as some dark cocoa, dark gravel and iron too. Medium plus length finish. Needed around 30 minutes to open up but then started aging quite rapidly. Drink till 2018. — 9 years ago

This beautiful cab dominant blend (15% merlot) promises to be one of their best vintages in a long while. Dark fruits with a depth of flavor uncharacteristic for an only slightly big medium-bodied wine. Playfully spicy with a good tannic core. This got better each day over a 5 day timeframe. This is gonna be a great wine in 5 years. — 4 years ago
